Sweet Treats

1-2-3 Cookies

  • 1 1/4 packages of Nabisco graham crackers (not the whole box)
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips

Turn oven on to 350 degrees F. Break the graham crackers into crumbs.  Add sweetened condensed milk and chocolate chips. Pour into a buttered, 9x9 square pan. Bake for 30 minutes.

All Around Smores

  • 4 round graham crackers or sugar cookies
  • 2 large white or coloured marshmallows
  • 1 jar hazelnut chocolate spread

Spread the Hazelnut chocolate spread on all 4 crackers and place 2 of the crackers on a microwave-safe plate. Place the marshmallows on the top and microwave on high (100%) for 15 seconds. Remove the plate from the microwave and place the other 2 crackers on top of each marshmallow. Push down slightly until the marshmallows spread to the outer edges of the crackers. Makes 2 Smores.

Apple Crumble

  • 6 cup sliced apples (around 2 lbs.)
  • 1 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 2/3 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter

Arrange apples in greased baking dish and sprinkle with lemon juice.
Mix flour, oats and sugar. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse bread crumbs; sprinkle over apples.
Bake at 375° F. for 35 to 40 min. or until topping is lightly browned and apples are tender.

Kool-Aid Pie

  • 1 Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 Package of unsweetened kool-aid
  • 1 Large bowl of cool whip
  • 1 graham cracker crust

In large bowl, mix sweetened condensed milk and kool aid. Then add about 3/4 of the cool whip. Blend well. Place in graham cracker crust. Top with remaining cool whip. Refrigerate overnight, but can be eaten sooner, if you can't resist. This is easy and delicious.

Mud Balls

  • 1-cup peanut butter
  • 1/2-cup dry powdered milk
  • 1/2-cup raisins
  • 1/4-cup honey
  • Crushed graham crackers
  • Chocolate milk powder

Mix all ingredients together in a medium-size bowl. Show your child how to form the mixture into balls. Place a small amount of chocolate milk powder on a plate and roll the balls in the powder. Eat as a tasty snack or refrigerate and serve later.

No Bake Banana Cookies

  • Banana or other fruit
  • Graham crackers
  • Ziploc bag
  • Rolling Pin

Place four graham crackers in a Ziploc bag and crush them with a rolling pin. Slice a banana or other fruit into small pieces. Shake a few pieces at a time into the bag to completely coat the fruit. Lay the pieces out on a plate and, if you like, provide a little fork for spearing.

Yummy Yogurt Topping

  • 1/2 cup  butter or non-hydrogenated margarine
  • 1/2 tsp  vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup  packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups    rolled oats (not instant)

In a 2-L/8-in glass or microwave safe dish, microwave butter for 40 -60 seconds on high until melted. Stir in vanilla and sugar. Mix well. Stir in rolled oats and mix well. Firmly press mixture into pan.  Microwave on high for 5-6 minutes.  Let cool.  Wher removing from dish break up into small pieces (crumble) . Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
